Seen/Unseen – with Company E –U.S.A. 2023

Company E is a contemporary repertory dance company based in Washington, DC, in the USA. The company collaborates with artists from around the world, developing a diverse repertoire and working with choreographers, composers, filmmakers, and other performing artists to create works for the concert stage and, most often, in site-specific locations.

About the performance

For all the dislocation and isolation created by COVID-19, unique new lines of communication and opportunities for expression also emerged. Methods of creation and engagement through digital contact matured and brought people who were, in many ways, already isolated from one another. Zoom, Google Meet, Teams, and other platforms became not just accepted but embraced, breaking down walls that geography and politics had hardened in the last years of the 2010s. In unexpected ways, we became more equal and more known through the shared traumas of COVID. Our experiences in isolation created commonality and contact as much as estrangement.
